Stock market LIVE updates: The Indian equity markets were feeble in Wednesday’s noon deals, down nearly 2 per cent, trigerred by across-the-board sell-off. Meanwhile, volatility index, India VIX, meanwhile, rose 6 per cent to 24.5 levels.
The S&P BSE Sensex fell over 900 points, or 1.9 per cent, to 47,410 levels. The Nifty50 index also gave up the 14,000-mark, for the first time since January 4. IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank dropped 4 per cent each and were the top Sensex laggards, while Dr Reddy’s, Sun Pharma, Titan, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank were all down over 3 per cent, each.
All the Nifty sectoral indices were painted red, with Nifty Bank, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Metal, Nifty Pharma, and Nifty Realty indexes falling over 2 per cent, each.
In the broader markets, the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices fell 1.5 per cent and 0.8 per cent, respectively.
