India on Saturday reported a net reduction of 1,862 to take its count of active coronavirus cases to 169824, the lowest since June 21 and 83.32 per cent lower than the September 18 peak of 1,017,754. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases has declined to 0.65 per cent (one in 154). The country is 15th among the most affected countries by active cases. India added 13,083 cases to take its total caseload to 10,733,131. And, with 137 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 154,147, or 1.44 per cent of total confirmed infections.
With 571,974 more vaccinations across India on Thursday, the total count of those inoculated reached 3,500,027. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 10,409,160 – or 96.98 per cent of total caseload – with 14,808 new cured cases being reported on Saturday.

With a daily increase of 13,083 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 10,720,048 on Friday to 10,733,131 – an increase of 0.1%. Death toll has reached 154,147, with 137 fatalities in a day. Now the fifteenth-most-affected country by active cases, fourth by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 93,447 cases in the past 7 days.

India now accounts for 0.65% of all active cases globally (one in every 154 active cases), and 6.95% of all deaths (one in every 14 deaths).

India has so far vaccinated 3,500,027 people. That is 32.61 per cent of its total caseload, and 0.2522 per cent of its population.

The count of active cases across India has seen a net reduction of 1,862, compared with 2,054 on Thursday. Five states with highest net increase in active cases are Maharashtra (102), Punjab (35), Ladakh (5), Himachal (4), and Puducherry (4).

With 14,808 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has inched up to 96.98%, while the fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.44%.

The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.24%), Maharashtra (2.52%), and Gujarat (2.19%). The rate in as many as 13 is higher than the national average.

India’s new daily closed cases stand at 14,945 — 137 deaths and 14,808 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 0.92%.

India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.1%.

India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 568.3 days, and for deaths at 779.6 days.

Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Kerala (6268), Maharashtra (2771), Tamil Nadu (550), Karnataka (468), and Chhattisgarh (370).

Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Kerala (91.70%), Maharashtra (95.28%), Punjab (95.54%), Gujarat (96.94%), and Uttarakhand (96.95%).

Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (13.94%), Goa (11.91%), Chandigarh (9.75%), Nagaland (9.7%), and Kerala (9.64%).

Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Kerala (10.66%), Goa (4.81%), Maharashtra (4.19%), Chandigarh (2.27%), and Nagaland (2.08%).

Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (535569), J&K (341029), Kerala (270976), Karnataka (256619), and Andhra Pradesh (249994).

The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2021184), Karnataka (938401), Kerala (917630), Andhra Pradesh (887591), and Tamil Nadu (837327).

Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 2,771 new cases to take its tally to 2021184. The state has added 26,207 cases in the past 10 days.

Karnataka, the second-most-affected state, has reported 468 cases to take its tally to 938401.

Kerala, now the third most-affected state by total tally, has added 6268 cases to take its tally to 917630.

Andhra Pradesh has added 125 cases to take its tally to 887591.

Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 509 to 837327.

Delhi has added 249 cases to take its tally to 634773.
