Of course, sometimes the opposite applies.
So: the Crown Office refuses to provide material it’s asked for and “dissuades” the Fabiani committee from obtaining that material legally, but also attempts to force onto the police material the police haven’t asked for – and don’t want because it could unlawfully contaminate a criminal investigation – while the Scottish Government tries to make a public statement the police consider improper and, when foiled by the prospect of a court interdict, leak the information to the Daily Record instead.
Normal healthy country. All is well. Don’t look behind the curtain.
